Rob Hall was born and raised in Port Lavaca, Texas. During the summer months, starting at the age of 10, Rob worked alongside his dad harvesting milo and corn as custom combiners. That early work experience built a strong foundation of work, ethics, and commitment that Rob has continued throughout his career. Rob graduated from Calhoun High School in 1985 and attended Texas A&M University, graduating with his BS in Agricultural Economics in May of 1989. He went on to complete the Cornell University Food Executive Program in 2001.
While at A&M, Rob was highly involved with the Alpha Zeta Agricultural Fraternity where he was recognized for high scholarship, character, and leadership. He was a three-year letterman on the A&M track and field team, was a pole vaulter, and won the Texas A&M athletic academic award for two back-to-back seasons.
After graduation, Rob went through the H-E-B Store Management Program from June 1989 through February 1990 in Belton, Texas where he started his career with H-E-B Grocery Company. After being a store manager in Belton for four months, he became Service Director in Temple, and later was promoted to Assistant Store Director. He became Store Director in Kingsville in April of 1991, followed by becoming Store Director in Sinton and then in Corpus Christi. In April of 1994, Rob became Unit Director in Victoria. He became Unit Director Team Leader while in Victoria and was also responsible for stores in Port Lavaca and Refugio. He was made Regional Director of Selling and Merchandising for Drugstores throughout the Gulf Coast Region in October of 1999 and he went on to become the Regional Director of Advertising and Selling in the same region in 2002. He was also appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for the South Texas Region in 2002. He was promoted to Regional Manager of the Gulf Coast Region in January of 2005, followed by being promoted to Vice President of the same region in March, 2006. In 2012, Rob became Group Vice President and General Manager of the Gulf Coast Region, a position that he still holds today. He has received multiple management, leadership, and development awards from H-E-B during his time with the company.
In his current position, Rob is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining employees, maximizing sales growth through strategic innovation and planning, leading a region with more than 5,500 Partners, and managing a regional team of leaders that support 31 stores and achieves more than 1.5 billion dollars in annual sales. Throughout his time with H-E-B, Rob’s favorite part of his job is helping Partners accomplish more than they thought possible, seeing the success of his team, and being challenged with the continuous leadership and improvement of his team.
Rob remains affiliated with A&M by his membership in the 12th Man Foundation, TAMU Letterman’s Association, and the Association of Former Students. He is a season ticket holder to multiple Aggie sports and is a board member for the Center for Retailing Studies at Mays Business School as well as a Retailing Summit Participant. He is also very active in his community, serving as a Board Member for the USS Lexington, the United Way of the Coastal Bend, and KEDT Public Broadcasting. Rob also serves as Co-Chair of the American Heart Association Heart Walk in Corpus Christi and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Texas State Aquarium.
Rob and his wife Stacey ’89 currently live in Portland, Texas with their daughters Robin ’16 and Kathryn ’19.
