Biography: 

James F. “Jimmy” Dodson graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural economics.  He immediately assumed ownership of Jimmy Dodson Farms, located in Nueces County, Texas and consisting of 9,500 acres of cotton and milo.  He is also the president of Dodson Farms, Inc. and Dodson Ag, Inc., and is employed by Pioneer Hi-Bred, International Sales Agency.

Mr. Dodson has spent many years serving the agricultural industry through his leadership in many different organizations.  In the past, he served as chairman of the Cotton Foundation, as director and past chairman of Texas AgFinance, F.C.S., and as a trustee of the Nueces River Authority.  He was also a member of the USDA Advisory Committee on Agricultural Biotechnology and served as a cooperative delegate and as chairman of the Environmental Task Force for the National Cotton Council.

Mr. Dodson’s industry service continues today as he is the director of the Farm Credit Bank of Texas where he serves as chairman of the Tenth District Farm Credit Council and is vice-chairman for the Audit Committee.  He also serves as chairman of the Farm Policy Committee and as Texas state chairman for the American Cotton Producers.  His leadership skills are further exercised as chairman of the Policy Development Taskforce for the National Cotton Council.

Through the years, Mr. Dodson has shown dedication to the agricultural industry by the amount of time spent and commitment given through his many leadership positions.  In addition to his service to the agriculture industry, Mr. Dodson also has been an enthusiastic volunteer in his community.  In the past, he has served as a trustee for the Bishop C.I.S.D. and is currently a deacon and trustee with Real Life Fellowship Church.

Texas A&M, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the Department of Agricultural Economics count Mr. Dodson as an impassioned supporter.  He is a past member of the College of Agriculture Development Council and can be counted on to encourage participation in programs at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Corpus Christi as well as county-level extension programs.

Jimmy Dodson is married to Barbara and they have three children.
